The South Carolina Benefits Center, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS), helps residents ages 60 and over enroll in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as food stamps). Operated by Benefits Data Trust, the South Carolina Benefits Center reaches likely eligible households through text message and mail outreach, and provides SNAP application assistance over the phone. Since 2016, the South Carolina Benefits Center has facilitated about $195 million in cumulative benefits for residents in need.
