In April 2015, through a national funding opportunity, South Carolina was selected to increase participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) among low-income seniors. The program has since expanded, as of February 2017, to include additional benefits for seniors including Medicare Extra Help / Low-Income Subsidy (LIS) for prescriptions, Medicare Savings Program (MSP), and Medicaid medical assistance.
