Why Benefits Data Trust?
"When my family immigrated to the US, we had very little financial security and even less of the know-how to navigate complex systems. As a child, I recall my elementary school-aged, older brother translating between my parents and utility companies on the phone to negotiate late bills. We relied on public assistance until I left my parents’ home, but they continue benefiting from SNAP, Medicaid and other supports to this day. Now, I have three kids, and I see firsthand how public benefits provided the foundation for stability, later mobility, and the eventual multi-generational leap out of poverty."
