Marcia Gelbart

Senior Director of Communications and Marketing

As Senior Director of Communications & Marketing, Marcia Gelbart is responsible for raising awareness of BDT’s mission, including leading the development and implementation of national communications, branding, and marketing strategies. With a perspective and approach shaped by more than 20 years in corporate and newsroom settings, Marcia is passionate about storytelling that expands the positive impact of collaboration among the government, nonprofit, and business sectors.  

Before joining BDT, Marcia served as Senior Director of Communications at Comcast, where she focused on enhancing the company’s reputation by developing communications strategies for their social impact programs. Previously a newspaper journalist, she worked at The Philadelphia Inquirer as the City Hall Bureau Chief and a business reporter; at The Palm Beach Post covering state and local governments; and as an editor and reporter at The Hill in Washington D.C.  

Marcia has a master’s degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester. She currently serves as a board member of Philadelphia Young Playwrights and is a past co-chair of the Greater Philadelphia Corporate Volunteer Council.
