Chief Technology Officer
Leona Thomas leads BDT’s technology efforts and data infrastructure strategy to ensure the direct impact and advancement of public benefits access. As Chief Technology Officer, she oversees three highly skilled technology teams supporting BDT’s internal organization and external client base through software engineering, technical services and cloud engineering, and data science. With over 25 years of experience as a technology executive, Leona brings extensive knowledge on the practice of integrating business strategy, operations, and technology in for-profit and non-profit settings as both a leader and a strategic advisor.
Before joining BDT, Leona was President and Founder of Enabling Investments, LLC. During her tenure, she helped to found 7 women- and minority-owned companies, as well as provide strategic management and technology consulting. Her resume also includes professional experience as COO of Wylei Inc., as well as Hibu, and CSC Consulting. Leona is a board member and co-chair of Strategic Planning for the William Way Community Center, Philadelphia’s LGBTQ community center, and is an original and current member of SIM Women’s Leadership Advisory Council and a current member of DiverseForce on Boards. Leona earned her BSE in Electrical and Computer Engineering and holds an Executive MBA from Drexel University.
