Jamila McLean

Senior Healthcare Policy Manager

Jamila McLean is the Healthcare Policy Manager at Benefits Data Trust. In this role, she analyzes and promotes policy and practice innovations that streamline access to Medicaid and other healthcare-related benefits – providing technical assistance to state agencies and their partners. Additionally, she has developed the Medicaid Churn Toolkit to aid states in the design and implementation of policy and practice solutions that reduce Medicaid churn. 

Before joining BDT, Jamila was a Program Officer at the Center for Health Care Strategies, where she supported efforts related to delivery system reform, children’s health, and Medicaid leadership and capacity building – including the CDC’s 6|18 Initiative. She also conducted research at the Rutgers Institute for Health focused on understanding the role of race, ethnicity, and nativity status on the physical and mental health outcomes of African Americans and Black Caribbeans. Jamila holds a Master of Public Health from the Rutgers School of Public Health.
