Director of Policy

Erin Henderlight (she/her) is the Director of Policy at Benefits Data Trust (BDT), where she leads the organization’s work to transform benefits access through policy change, research, and technical assistance. She and her team of five work with federal, state, and local policymakers to streamline and modernize public benefits systems to better serve families and individuals. Erin has more than 15 years of experience working with government on improving health and human services delivery systems. Prior to joining BDT, she was a Senior Advisor with Public Consulting Group (PCG) leading projects that analyzed and improved policies and practices across federal programs in partnership with 20+ states and counties across the country. Prior to joining PCG, Erin worked for Buncombe County (NC) Health and Human Services where she played a key leadership role in streamlining the delivery of public benefits. For the last 17 years, Erin has called North Carolina home due to her love of mountains, sweet tea, and BBQ. She graduated from Rhodes College in Tennessee with a degree in Physics and later received a Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree with a focus in Social Policy from Duke University. Since graduating, she has continued to give back to Duke, serving previously on its Sanford School Alumni Council and now on the MPP Alumni Board.
