Senior Data Scientist

Benefits Data Trust (BDT) is seeking an experienced Data Scientist who likes to get deep in the trenches – tackling the hardest data science problems and delivering the most elegant and scalable solutions to solve some of the most pressing social concerns of our time. We’re looking for the best and brightest data science talents to help us create novel machine learning technologies to help people in need get access to essential benefits and services. Responsibilities

  • Proficient with Python, R, Scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebook, Tensorflow or Keras
  • Comfortable working with large datasets (data collection, curation, and analysis) and designing systems that can effectively work with them
  • Experience with microservice architecture and distributed systems
  • Experience leading a project from conception to release
  • Experienced in developing statistical models (GLM, Bayes, SVM, decision trees, boosting methods, LSI, LDA, kNN, PCA/SVD, latent factors) and building them into scalable production systems
  • Experienced in Deep Learning (CNN, RNN) with applications to image classification and/or NLP
  • Expertise in presenting quantitative models and concepts to a non-quantitative audience
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills, a detail oriented personality, and a collaborative spirit
  • Excited by the idea of mentoring team members and promoting a culture of data literacy across the organization
  • A commitment to being attentive, persistent, and flexible while remaining conscious and protective of the integrity and purpose of our organization

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Knowledge or experiences in Deep Reinforcement Learning
  • Knowledge or experiences in agile SDLC and tooling (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Github)
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, or associated field

Qualifications

  • Help develop algorithms and predictive models to solve critical business problems and create new ways of helping our clients
  • Build models which will run live in a production environment to achieve results for our client
  • Work with our engineering team to build data collection and analysis into BDT’s D
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to quantify client impact of proposed product enhancemen
  • Design and implement statistical models and business rules that enhance how we serve our client
  • This role will also be responsible for representing the organization at meetups and conferences within the “Data for Good” community, highlighting both our organizational impact as well as best practices for harnessing data science within the non-profit sector
  • Stay current with technical best practices and industry trends and advise and educate management on their importance
