BDT welcomes new Director of Policy

Benefits Data Trust (BDT) is pleased to welcome Ty Jones as its new Director of Policy. Ty brings over 11 years experience in the public benefits sphere, working for individuals in need by designing policy solutions.

Prior to joining BDT, Ty was a Senior Policy Analyst at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) in Washington, DC. While at CBPP, she worked with state and federal officials and state advocates to help strengthen and protect access to SNAP. Prior to joining CBPP, Ty was the Public Benefits Staff Attorney at the Virginia Poverty Law Center. As the Public Benefits Staff attorney, she provided technical assistance, training, representation, and policy advocacy in the areas of Unemployment Compensation Insurance, TANF, and SNAP. She also worked as a legal services attorney representing low-income individuals in various civil matters.

Ty earned her law degree from Howard University School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. She began working for Benefits Data Trust in January 2017.
